This lovely city centre apartment provides you with all the comforts of home and is located in the very centre of the city. It makes the ideal base for all your adventures in Paris.
Located just a few minutes away from Sentier metro station, the Mulhouse Apartment is in the 2nd arrondissement just north of Les Halles. The Sentier district was originally known for its textile manufacturing. A few companies remain but nothing on the scale of its industrious past. These days the area is much more famous for its shopping possibilities. Make sure you pay a visit to the beautiful Galeries Lafayette. This popular shopping centre located close to the Opera Garnier has the most incredible architecture including a sumptuous glass dome and an extremely stylish Art Nouveau staircase. Now recognised quite understandably as an official heritage sight of the city of Paris, the Galeries Lafayette is open for business daily until seven thirty in the evening and nine o’clock on Thursday evenings make sure you check out eh windows in the winter holiday season. The magical displays could give any New York department store a run for its money!
If you are stuck for ideas on where to explore in the centre of Paris then why not head to Père Lachaise Cemetery. Ok, it may sound like a strange holiday suggestion but a visit to this incredible Parisian final resting place really does make an excellent afternoon excursion. This beautiful cemetery was built in 1804, spans 44 hectares and now has more than one million residents. It also has hundreds of thousands of visitors coming to ‘pay their respects’ annually. Why? Because this is home to many famous celebrities including Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison, Marcel Marceau, Edith Piaf and Frédéric Chopin. If you are interested in the history of Paris itself then Père Lachaise is a definite ‘must-see’. The gravesites range from a simple uncomplicated headstone to huge extravagant monuments and even mini chapels. There are other equally beautiful cemeteries worth visiting in the city including Montmartre Cemetery in the north and Montparnasse Cemetery in the south. At the heart of the city, in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, is the charming Passy Cemetery.
