Located just a few minutes away from Blanche metro station, the apartment is perfectly positioned for access to pretty shops selling unusual souvenirs, fantastic fine restaurants and a wealth of popular typically Parisian bars. This is the 18th arrondissement, particularly famous for being the home of the Moulin Rouge cabaret bar. The birth place of the Can-Can and immortalised by the art of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, the famous neon windmill continues to revolve some 120 years after its initial conception. Pop along for a fun filled evening of colour, sequins, ostrich feathers and high octane frivolity. The shows themselves have really not changed much over the years.
Montmartre itself is a city hill that rises some 130 metres above Paris and provides, as you might imagine, fantastic views. Take the funicular railway to the top. The base station is located to the east of the apartment a short walk from Abbesses metro station. You can also make the climb on foot or jump on one of the many buses that circle the hill regularly to the top. The instantly recognisable Basilica Sacre Coeur greets you as you reach the summit. Packed with pretty boutiques and laid back cafes, Montmartre oozes old world Parisian charm. This district was particularly popular with some of Europe’s finest painters including Salvador Dali, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Piet Mondrian who all set up studios here at one time or another.
