You will find the Grenier St Lazare studio apartment in the very centre of the city just north of the beautiful Seine. The nearest metro is Rambuteau, just a minutes’ walk away. Immediately south, just five minutes’ walk away lies the fantastic Pompidou Centre. Known by many as the ‘inside-out building’ thanks to its exterior escalators and brightly coloured tubes and mechanics on the outside, this hugely popular building houses the largest collection of modern art in Europe. Designed by artists Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint-Phalle they represent themes and works by the composer Igor Stravinsky. The fountain was installed in 1983 and is instantly recognized by millions of visitors to the city.

Follow the roads south and you will come to the Seine and another mammoth art gallery and museum, the Louvre. Here you can wander for what seems like days around the incredible 652,300 square feet of space housing 35,000 objects dating back to before history was even recorded. Get there as early as possible if you wish to avoid the longest queues to see the mysterious Mona Lisa.
