Chapon Family Apartment Paris

Located in the very centre of the city between the Arts et Metier and Rambuteau Metro stations the apartment just north of Notre Dame Cathedral. Famous of course due to Victor Hugo’s book The Hunchback of Notre-Dame in 1831 and much later the 1939 Hollywood film version with Charles Laughton and Maureen O’Hara this stunning piece of architecture is high on the to-do lists of many visitors to Paris. The extraordinary external flying buttresses and the incredible detailed carvings above the front door area are a treat for the eye. Don’t miss the cheeky gargoyles that decorate the upper levels. Notre Dame de Paris, its official name, translates as Our Lady of Paris. It is a fully functioning place of worship and hosts services daily therefore if you wish to explore inside be sure to check the cathedral’s website for general public opening times. The nearest Metro station is St-Michel Notre Dame.

No visit to Paris would be complete without a visit to se the Eiffel Tower. The most popular paying visitor structure in the world it has hosted more than 200,000,000 visitors since it’s creation in 1889. If you go at night be sure to get there just before the hour as it lights up for just 5 minutes every hour on the hour. There are three different levels you can choose to visit and you can opt to go by lift or by stairs. The walk from ground level to the first level is over 300 steps, so you may want to think wisely about travelling to the top floor although the final tier is accessed only by lift.
